Critics of network marketing will often say that an NM is little more than a job. They cite the issues of procedures and restrictions. An NM company will have certain procedures you are supposed to follow and they will have some restrictions to adhere to.

For example, you may have to commit to a certain volume of sales level per month and / or you may have to submit certain information each month. Also there may be restrictions on what you can and cannot do. For example, most NM companies restrict selling their products on eBay and may restrict the channels you advertise and market the products.

While this points are valid, I have never personally heard of anyone ‘getting fired’ from a Network Marketing company. I’m sure it’s happened due to someone extremely abusing some restriction or something, but I would say it’s rare. The reason most people leave network marketing companies is that they simply give up and quit.

While there may be procedures and restrictions in place, you still can think of it is a business versus a job. In fact, you should think of it in terms of a business in order to grow it and become successful. If you think of it in terms of a ‘job’, that’s all it will ever be. And you’ll end up on the same kind of steet that most jobs put you on: a dead end street.

Orrin Woodward is a giant in Network Marketing. He is affiliated with Quixtar via his TEAM network marketing company. He doesn’t seem to use his blog to do that much direct plugging of the company and it’s some very good reading. It’s good inspirational reading and well worth a daily visit for Network Marketers.
