If you are planning to sponsor people in Network Marketing, that means you will take on a mentor role. Obviously your online reputation is very important. These days, anyone can Google your name and find out what people have said about you or what you say about other people. Oddly enough, what you say about other people can be just as damaging as the former.
I was recently doing research on Ann Sieg and ran across a Squidoo lens created by a woman who claims to be a mentor. The entire purpose of her lens is to tear down Ann Sieg. Without arguing the validity of Ann Sieg’s material or her tactics, let’s just focus on that lens for minute. That lens left a very bad taste in my mouth especially considering this person is claiming to be a mentor and wants to improve the lives of others.
I personally would never want to be mentored or sponsored by anyone who would spend time putting down someone else like this. This is not constructive activity and is not indicative of a useful mentor to me. Qualities that I would look for in a mentor or sponsor are people who stay positive and don’t engage in unnecessary negative talk about other people. Certainly not someone who would go to the trouble of putting up a Squidoo lens just to tear someone else down.
So if mentoring and sponsoring are in your plans, be careful what you say in online places like Squidoo or forums. Your free flowing negative talk can detract from your ability to be a positive influence on other people.
PS, yes I purposely left out the link to the lens. Otherwise I would be engaging in it!
